About Us

FanGM.com was relaunched in August 2005 by a sports fan who was highly active in internet sports message boards and fantasy leagues who recognized that many others online also enjoyed playing the fictional GM role by suggesting trade ideas and flexing their player personnel muscles in sports discussion. With all of the player movement in sports these days, the off-season and trading deadlines are almost more popular topics of discussion than the actual games themselves.

Cool idea to mix message board trade chatter with fantasy sports competitiveness. Who hasn't second-guessed a move by their home team management? Everyone has their own opinions, and many hard-core fans dream of calling the shots for their favorite team. Fantasy sports leagues have increasingly tapped into this, provided a playground where such fans could do their own player valuations and wheeling & dealing.

FanGM takes that competition a step further in a new direction. Here, players submit their own trade proposals of what they would like to see happen in the real world (if they were calling the shots) and other players critique those suggestions within a scoring system that also rates factors like fairness and realism. It takes a trade idea that might be posted by a fan in a sports message board and adds the element of competitiveness and objective ratings across several criteria for idea evaluation.

This site is just getting started, so look for enhancements in the coming months. Also let us know if you have any comments, questions, or find any errors by contacting us.

The site was developed by a one-man staff on weekends and late-nights over the course of many long hours. It currently is maintained by himself and his wife (an equally fanatical sports fan) between cheering for rival teams and still trying to peacefully co-exist in wedded bliss. Check us out online under HiAspire and DodgerDolly (TestMarket is another account used to add trades into the database without scoring/leaderboard effects). Contact troy@fangm.com if you have any questions.
