DFFL Steelers Preview
QB: Drew Brees
RB: Wendell Smallwood, Robert Turbin, De'Angelo Henderson
WR: Jarvis Landry, Rishard Matthews, Jack Doyle, Robby Anderson
TE: Marcedes Lewis, Lee Smith
The Steelers upgraded at QB in a major way this off-season, but still have a few question marks moving forward. If the offensive line can improve throughout the season, this could be the year that the Steelers move back into the playoff race. If not, it'll be a third straight mediocre season in the Steel City due to an inability to stop opposing teams' front seven. At some point, a rebuild becomes a failed attempt at a rebuild, and we're nearing that window in Pittsburgh.
Optimistic Outlook: Wendell Smallwood becomes the feature back in Philly and stays healthy. The offensive line (I'm looking at you Joe Haeg and Graham Glasgow) progresses from a rating standpoint. Sheldon Rankins is a dominant DT. Darron Lee figures it out. Xavien Howard is as good as advertised. 12-4 and a playoff team.
Realistic Outlook: There's no way all that goes right. Let's say my optimistic outlook is half right and Rankins is great and the OL gets a little better but not enough to make a real difference. In that scenario, this is a 8-8 or 9-7 team on the outside looking in. Drew Brees, save us!
