I see your point but I just don't undertsand why we would assume they would fill that open spot with a rookie. I think the safest assumption would be they are more likely to fill with a veteran since it hasn't been filled by a rookie already.

Not that I'm aware of. I always want more room in my squad, but I can understand that some people just want to play the game as a game, and for them worrying about the last 5 spots on the roster is just a hassle. I can't see any reason why they should be penalised by a higher than base wage for tho...

I voted higher too so it provides GMs with incentives to actually fill their roster with players. Honestly, I believe the higher should come down from the commish. In my opinion this doesn't need to be voted on. Either fill your roster, which every GM should do, or pay the price.

Yes NFL teams carry a backup center. However, usually it would be a dual guard/center to offer the team versatility.
