Miami had Sam Brenner at C, a 2013 rookie who was activated off the practice squad in Nov. Not sure what they plan was previously, but I am sure they had one.
Dallas had Phil Costa last season. He signed with Indy in the offseason.

Re: 2014 RULES: Values for Players Without Grade
Teams in the NFL would insert a backup G for a Center or whatever if they had to. They wouldn't just bring a guy off the practice squad in the middle of the game with no madden ranking. I am not sure I exactly age with this statement. Most teams have a plan in place to deal with losing s center, bu...

Player Lists
I hesitate to bring this up because I know that there is a lot to do to get setup for the start of the 2014 season and Troy only has so much time. However, I was thinking about ways to make player research easier, and I thought this might be a relatively easy add. Would it be possible to add sortabl...

Re: 2014 Off-Season Date Conflicts
Considering that nothing we do really requires more than a check-in once every 24 hours, I don't have any strict conflict dates. However, my work schedule significantly opens up after the first week in April.

Re: 2014 RULES: Free Agency Changes
I really like the proposed points system. I agree with Royce. I don't like being locked into a certain contract length or minimum salary because of a previous bid. It seemed like a necessary evil, but a move to such a point system would solve it. I think the example given is great. I see why we can'...

Re: 2014 RULES: Free Agency Changes
I am not really in favor of limiting last minute bids. It can be used as a weapon (a home team can tie up one of a competitor's bids by extending an offer at the last minute), but it really only helps when two teams are going after the same 2 players and one of the teams has a home team advantage on...

Re: Off-Season Topics
Just a note, the ability to borrow money from future salary cap years was only a stopgap measure in the new CBA to cover the 2011 and 2012 years before the 4 year cash spend minimums kicked in (see here under "2011-2012 transition rules: http://nflcommunications.com/2011/07/21/nfl-clubs-approve...

Re: 5th Year Option for 2011 1st Round Picks
I certainly understand that only so much time can be devoted for things to work smoothly around here. I appreciate this site and all the work that goes into making this an enjoyable experience, and I didn't mean to imply (or complain) that more needed to be done. Honestly, if the decision is that tr...

Re: 5th Year Option for 2011 1st Round Picks
Regardless, I think we need to figure this out this offseason. In the NFL, teams have until May 3rd to decide on the option for 2011 draft picks. We have no built in guarantee to lock us in this offseason, but I think that is ok. From what I read, in the NFL, the money is only guaranteed for injury ...

Re: 2014 RULES: Carry Over
I am a little concerned about what this might do to free agency. I agree that if we do increase the limit, the carry over doesn't become any more than 11% a year. I think trying to average over each 4 year period is difficult both to keep track of and to deal with incoming GMs. Plus, since we don't ...
