Haha. Truth.

I have a first coming my way, but it might take me a month to actually get it. :)

Working compensatory draft pick results so that the draft order can be set and teams will know exactly what draft pick slot they are trading for sure before we turn trading on.

For compensatory picks, any given year's free agency impacts the NEXT YEAR'S draft (not the same year draft) so our free agency activities last off-season impact this year's draft. You'll see the same chart we had up all off-season last year on the league homepages with UFA gains/losses from last off-season's free agency. If you click the details link there you'll see exactly what is going into those determinations. http://www.fangm.com/football/comppicks.php

Only teams that lost more UFAs than they signed during peak free agency are eligible for compensatory picks (street free agents with no team association and tagged players do not factor into UFA gains/losses only players with unlimited bidding stolen from other teams). We had many more eligible picks, but only 32 max are allowed. They go to the highest 32 UFAs lost by grade that didn't have a corresponding gain of a similar balancing grade. For example, you don't get a comp pick if you lost a 6.8 grade player if you also signed a 6.8 grade UFA.

For AFFL:
3rd: OAK
4th: STL, ATL, BAL, CLE, BAL, SEA, STL, JAC
5th: BAL, CHI, CHI, BAL, STL, CLE, BUF, CLE, OAK, STL, NYJ
6th: HOU, ARI, DEN, SEA, MIA, DEN, CHI, NYJ, ARI, ARI, BUF
7th: DET

Carolina just rescinded the franchise tag in the NFL on Josh Norman. Does that mean they are still eligible for a compensation pick still for the 2017 draft. He was tagged and never signed the tag, so I would assume yes they still get the pick?

Rotoworld says they would get a 3rd next year once he signs somewhere.

Okay cool, was curious if that were to happen here if a Texan could be eligible for the compensation selection
