I'm a newer GM here in my second season in the EFFL, I think a 3 month no trade would be the best change. After 3 months, a lot of cap is tied up else where. It would also be closer to the point where we switch from off season Rule of 51 to regular season cap settings, so there would be more risk involved with trading a bigger contract. On top of that, it gives the league a more realistic feel, where a player signs with a team, goes through OTAs, and doesn't fit. That's when teams look to make a move, not within an hour of signing. Just my two cents.

The guys who are continuously successful constantly work for trades, and are not afraid to trade away or trade for a player when the value is right. Most of the guys that stick around the top barely have cap space to play in FA annually outside of some depth signings and maybe 1 or 2 guys that are in the A/B range if they have the cap space to even play in FA.
But it would effect them because they are using their draft picks to get the player on a cheap deal while.someone else eats the signing bonus. They then deal that player near the end of the contract and get picks back to start the cycle.again.

This is cffl example and may not be across all leagues

In the past I have been consistently against NTC but how it has worked out the last few seasons with players signing them and trading them right away is completely unrealistic.

I think it’s unrealistic to make a whole year no trade clause. The NFL does this, lets mimic them. I can totally get behind the 3-6 month NTC but a whole year? That’s just not realistic either!

I dont know how 1 year no trade is unrealistic? Perhaps it needs to apply to a certain grade rating and higher but a team is not signing Suh and trading him in year one in real life.

most of the stuff that happens here doesn't mimic real life so going off that is pointless...like i said I can see both ways but prefer not to tell GM's how to run their team

Drew Stanton has no ill will toward Jets over brief tenure with team https://es.pn/2dR3zqP

This is an exact example of a FA signing in the NFL, then being traded a few weeks/months later. A 1 year NTC would not allow this to happen therefore we are proposing to do something on here that is actually happening from time to time in the nfl...

Again I can support a 3-6 month NTC but a full year is ridiculous

I get the problem but don't like getting rid of trades all together for 1 year contracts. There are to many things that change after free agency to a roster. You can have injuries, other people on your team step up and become players, people you didn't expect falling to you during the draft and players you didn't expect to become available on the trade block become available. If I sign a guy to a 1 year contract lets just say for a million a year and also a million signing bonus. If I have an abundance of talent at that position and am either weak or have an injury at another position I should be able to trade him to get better at a different position of need. I understand what we are trying to get rid of but I would prefer if programmable to have a no trade clause over a certain dollar amount maybe 10 million dollars. I real GM would get fired by the owner if he gave a huge signing bonus in real life and then traded him that same day. It just seems like it would ruin some fun of FANGM just to take away something that only affects maybe 1-4 players a year in each league.
