Draft Start Date

Post by Jared A »

Just checking... is there an official start to our draft?

I'm asking, because I'll be leaving for Canada around May 1st. Just hoping we get it done before then.

We usually start the day after the real draft kicks off. If we kept to that tradition, then the start date would be Friday, April 24th. There is talk every year to kick ours off before the real draft, but the majority always favors starting after they know where the player will play in real life.

I don't think we should be waiting a full week after the start of the draft to start our own draft. We need to either start it Friday night like after 5 or something like that. Definatly not a full week after the real NFL draft.

I would agree with Onyxgem in the draft start...a week after, seems too long.
I would love to have the weekend(friday, April 23, after 5) to do the draft as well.

I'm all for starting on the day after (Friday) or at the beginning of the day on Saturday.

Definitely looking for the draft to start over the weekend in some form or fashion.

That, I would think, is going to allow the most people the largest block of time to actually be here for their picks.

It is usually the next day after the draft starts I believe, but might be a little different story with the NFL draft changing their schedule around to primetime weekday (instead of saturday start for NFL and sunday start for us). I mentioned focussing on the draft this week but haven't gotten all the draft stuff converted just yet and wanted to get a good idea of where that stood before I got into a date too much yet. But it's typically right around the NFL draft and usually a day later to get an idea of where the players are going in reality as well as assisting our draft system for the autopicks based upon NFL draft order being the default.

I would love to see the draft start on Saturday afternoon. Just so I can enjoy a couple of pops with the 1st round.
