Opening trading
Opening trading
I think it's about time to open up trades so that GM's can make a lot of moves prior to free agency beginning.

Re: Opening trading
I agree that we need to start doing the franchise tags and rfa's and what not, but also think we need trading opened at the same time.
Re: Opening trading
I'm still waiting for some answers on the cap front.
1. What will be the decided upon cap number? It seems we voted to have $126.88, but no official word from the commish on that.
2. Will the $3M workout bonus figure still be included in total salary?
3. Exactly how many restructures will we be allowed this year? The Steelers have restructured 3 players already, so this is something we are seeing a bit in the NFL. As a side note, I just found this note: "The Steelers get salary cap relief by converting a set amount of base salary into a signing bonus and spreading that signing money over the life of the contract." http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsbu ... z1TsPNu8lJ
That might be a way in the future to give more freedom to GMs when looking at restructuring as any amount of base salary could be converted to bonus and pro-rated.

Re: Opening trading
As posted before, I have a huge project at work this week. Trying to get some of the things mentioned at some point also this week, but this site not paying the mortgage currently. Not to sound harsh, but big issues at work are first. I know the impatience, but we don't need to have pre-season games here. We'll have things going soon, but not instantly.

Re: Opening trading
Thanks for the feedback Troy. Appreciate all the work you do, I think I speak for others when I say, intention is not to be impatient and we completely understand where you are coming from.
Re: Opening trading
I don't understand the rush either. GMs did the same thing for the draft, and then we all sat on our hands for 3 months. Let's get this all figured out and give Troy the proper time it takes to do this in his spare time.

I'm as quilty as anyone with being anxious to get started but you are right soonertf and Ben; things need to get ironed out in due time first. In the meantime, I'm in the process of doing a 2011 CFFL season preview article for the first installment of the year for A Fistfull of Quarters that will be posted by the end of the week at the latest.
