2010 RULES: Waivers

Should we have a waiver process like NFL?

No - Keep as is with no waiver process, and all cut players going into free agency pool for anybody to sign.

Yes - with NFL rules: under 4 years always on waivers, vets only after trade deadline. Order from last year's standings and updated after 9/28 to current standings.

Yes - but all players to waivers always to simplify and deal with teams trying to resign veterans in the system that everyone is able to be picked off waivers all times.

We'll put in a waiver wire with NFL rules where under 4 years always on waivers, vets only after trade deadline. Order from last year's standings and then updated after Week 4 to current standings during the season.

The way it will probably work is there will be a link to claim a young player listed next to the announcement of him being cut. That'll generate a list for me of teams claiming, and I'll either get that automated soon or in the meantime will manually just move the player after 48 hours to the team that wins the claim. The claiming team picks up his existing contract other than the signing bonus which is paid by the original signing team. After 48 hours if no claims we'll just make a free agent. We'll use 48 hours (despite NFL having different time periods for different times of the year) to be consistent with our other wait periods and to avoid confusion.
